Drake Bio, Net Worth 2017 - How Much Is Drake Worth Right Now?

Though he started out as an amateur Canadian actor on Degrassi, Drake has now become a household name. Born Aubrey Graham and raised by a single mom, Drake worked his way into the industry by acting in small roles before becoming a rap phenomenon. Drake has transformed from a young, emotional amateur to a music hearthrob and it doesn’t seem like he’s slowing down anytime soon.

Drake’s Net Worth as of 2017: $60 Million
Let’s travel down memory lane and see how Drake earned his huge net worth.

2001 – 2005

At the age of 15, Drake, known then as Aubrey Graham, was discovered by an acting agent who found him a role on a Canadian teenage drama series, Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake portrayed the character of Jimmy Brooks, a basketball player who became physically disabled after being shot by a disgruntled classmate. He continued his work on the show until 2007.

2006 – 2010

Drake self-released his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement, in 2006. This mixtape featured Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz and sold about 6,000 copies. In 2007, he released a second mixtape, Comeback Season. This mixtape spawned the single “Replacement Girl” featuring Trey Songz.

The song made Drake become the first unsigned Canadian rapper to have his music video on BET when “Replacement Girl’ was featured on the “New Joint of the Day” segment April 30, 2007. This prompted Lil Wayne to collab with Drake on multiple songs, including “Ransom,” “I Want This Forever” and a remix to “Brand New.”
In 2009, Drake released his third mixtape, So Far Gone. This time it was available for free download through his blog and was downloaded over 2,000 times within the first two hours of its release. The success of this mixtape garnered a recording contract with Young Money that Drake confirmed on June 29, 2009.

His debut album, Thank Me Later, was set to release in 2008 but was postponed first to March 2010 and then to May 25, 2010. Once again it was pushed but for three more weeks and was finally released on June 15, 2010.

2011 – 2015

“Headlines” was released on August 9, 2011, as the lead single from Take Care. It was met with positive critical and commercial reponses, reaching the 13th spot on the Hot 100 as well as becoming his tenth single to reach the summit of the Billboard Hot Rap Songs.
In January of 2013, Drake releases the first single off his third album at the conclusion of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. This was in the wake of his win for Best Rap Album. This was also used as an announcement of Nothing Was the Same, the title of his third album. Nothing Was the Same was released on September 24, 2013.
On February 12, 2015, Drake released If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late on iTunes with no announcement. This album sold over a million units and made Drake the first artist with a platinum project in 2015.

2016

Views from the 6, later shortened to Views, was released on April 29, 2016. This album garnered five successful singles that lead to “One Dance” becoming Drakes first number-one single in 10 countries as the lead artist including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Views also became the first album to accumulate one billion streams on Apple Music.

2017

As of March 18, 2017, Drake innovated again and released a playlist called More Life, which saw a lot of commercial success and marked new heights as his most highly-anticipated work.

You can see why Drake’s net worth is what it is and will probably continue to grow. The passion is real for him.
